Welcome to The Physiotherapy Place, our physio clinics in Portobello, Edinburgh and Musselburgh, East Lothian. We are really excited to be able to provide Edinburgh and East Lothian with all of their physiotherapy needs. From an acute ankle sprain to chronic back or neck pain, we have the experience and expertise to ensure your recovery from injury is optimal. Our purpose built clinics are designed to enhance your treatment, training and rehabilitation.
It is our aim at The Physiotherapy Place to ensure you have a relaxed and enjoyable experience, and to help you return to a healthy and active lifestyle. Our hands on treatments are based on the individual, not the diagnosis, to help you move better and get stronger.

MEET THE PHYSIOTHERAPY TEAM
Our Physios have extensive post graduate qualifications in addition to many years’ experience in sports and musculoskeletal conditions to ensure outstanding results. With over 40 years combined experience treating private patients and elite athletes, they take a positive, results driven approach.
Physiotherapist - Niall McGregor MSc Physiotherapy CGIMS
With over 14 years experience treating private patients and elite athletes, Niall prides himself on providing a friendly, relaxed environment for his patients. Determined to deliver the highest level of care, he decided to establish his own practice opening The Physiotherapy Place in 2017.
Niall gained a first class Master’s degree in Sport Science and Physiology from the University of Glasgow before going on to complete a Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of East Anglia. He has since worked in the NHS, for Hearts FC, and in British Columbia, Canada where he underwent extensive post-graduate training in manual and manipulative therapy and Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation. Niall lives locally with his wife and three daughters and enjoys staying active, travel and getting into the great outdoors whenever he can.
Physiotherapist - Quinton Caulfield MSc Physiotherapy
Quinton studied Physiology and Sports Science at undergraduate level before completing a Masters in Physiotherapy from University of Ulster, Jordanstown in 2004. Originally from Belfast, he has worked in Scotland for the MS Society, Hearts FC, long term conditions and has extensive experience in private practice. Some of his specialities include the treatment of back pain, neck pain, sports injuries and work place injuries. In his spare time, he enjoys rugby, mountain biking and spending time with his lovely wife and two kids. Quinton joined the practice in Aug 2017.
Physiotherapist - Kerry Morris BSc Physiotherapy
Kerry qualified in 2017, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. She has since worked within private physiotherapy clinics developing her skills in hands-on musculoskeletal physio. She's had a lifelong passion for sport, which has led to a clinical interest in sports injuries and how to rehabilitate people back to the activities they love. Having a particular love for athletics, she is a member of Team East Lothian, where she is a qualified Jumps coach. She also continues to train and competes regularly in sprints and long jump.
Physiotherapist - Jessica Berta MSc Physiotherapy
Jessica is originally from Canada and graduated with a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from McGill University. She has worked primarily in sports and orthopaedics during her career and applies a combination of manual therapy and tailored exercise programming to achieve optimal results in the clinic. Jessica is a keen runner herself and has a special interest in treating running related injuries and getting patients back to activity. She has taken several post-graduate courses and continues to stay up to date with best evidence and new research. In her spare time, you can find Jessica running in the fells or enjoying her new hobby of cycling.
Physiotherapist - Ross Grady MSc Physiotherapy
Ross has 10 years experience as a physiotherapist, working within professional sport and in private practice. After graduating from Queen Margaret University he went on to become the head physiotherapist at Falkirk FC before joining Hearts FC as first team physiotherapist in 2020. Throughout his time working in football, Ross has also worked in private practice and enjoys using his manual therapy and rehab skills to treat both sports and non-sport related injuries.
Ross lives locally with his partner and daughter, and in his spare time enjoys keeping fit and spending time with his family exploring East Lothian.
Physiotherapist - Alicia Thoms MSc Physiotherapy
Alicia completed her Bachelors in Neuroscience and Physiology at the University of Toronto in Canada before moving overseas to obtain her Masters in Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.
Prior to moving abroad, Alicia volunteered at a Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Centre during her undergraduate where she was able to marry up her passion of science and rehab. Since graduating from her Masters, Alicia has been working for the NHS as a physiotherapist in East Lothian. She uses a hands on approach to physiotherapy, gaining skills in manual therapy that when combined with specific exercises get great results when treating musculoskeletal conditions.
Physiotherapist - Hannah Ferrari MSc Physiotherapy
Hannah is originally from Northern Ontario, Canada where she studied Kinesiology and Health Science at an undergraduate level. In Canada, she has gained a wealth of experience working with physiotherapy patients in clinical, community, and hospital settings. Since relocating to Scotland, she has completed her Masters in Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.
Hannah has experience within the NHS treating long term conditions, sports injuries, and non-sport related injuries. She likes to use a combination of hands-on joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage, and specific exercise programs to get the best results for her patients.
Massage Therapist - Aimee Grant BSc Sports Science
Aimee gained a degree in Sports Science from Abertay University, during which she also studied for her qualification in sports massage. Since then she has been working as a sports massage therapist at a private clinic in Dundee.
Aimee has recently moved to East Lothian and is studying for a Physiotherapy degree at Edinburgh Napier University whilst also working as a massage therapist at The Physiotherapy Place.
In her spare time, Aimee is very sporty. She has a background in competing in elite level sport, when as a teenager she competed for Team GB in the Youth Olympics and European Championships for Judo. More recently Aimee has taken up running and enjoys going to the gym to keep fit.
Massage Therapist - Rod Aitchison
Rod joined The Physiotherapy Place team in 2024. He is an experienced massage therapist who has worked with various sports people and athletes. Rod is also studying towards an HND in sports therapy so his knowledge of the human body is second to none.
Outside of work Rod likes to live an active life - running, cycling, swimming to name but a few of his favourite pastimes. He has competed in ultra marathons and Iron Man competitions and his passion for sport and fitness shines through in the work he does with his clients.
